Tough ground screws, adjustable racks and autonomous tech bring Shoreham Solar online fast

At the time of construction, this landmark project represented the second-largest PV system in New York state. We built the 24.9-MW Shoreham Solar Commons project for the town of Brookhaven, converting a retired golf course into a high-yield PV array. Our team deployed its unique turnkey installation methods to get the system online quickly and cost-effectively, using its advanced racking systems to conform to the site’s rolling hills and 25 percent slopes. As the first and only in the U.S. to use tough ground screws, we streamlined installation by puncturing through the decommissioned irrigation pipes buried underground.

That’s just the beginning for faster, better solar. Our autonomous survey rover allowed the most precise installation ever, maximizing survey speed and drill accuracy over traditional methods. The survey robot let the crew place rows of screws quickly, streamlining construction. Now Shoreham Solar generates $670,000 in revenue for the town each year for the next two decades.
