Next Generation Solar Mounting Rack Unveiled at InterSolar 2016: By combining a new adjustable racking system with TerraSmart’s widely-deployed and versatile ground-screw foundation, the new TF2 rack delivered to market a product with 66% less hardware than the competition, simplified hardware stacks for easy materials handling, fast installation through innovative connection points and a cost-savings to the tune of a 35% with a reduction in install time. If that was not enough, the TF2 also means a decrease in civil work due to racking flexibility on sites with tough terrain equaling more money saved. Able to handle slopes up to 36%, the TF2 has integrated wire management, lighter yet stiffer components, and has passed the exacting standards of UL 2703 Edition 1. Learn more >>

#8 New Fleet of High Precision Aerial Site Mapping (HPASM) Drones: By streamlining site topography, TerraSmart HPASM drones deliver increased precision, speed and cost-savings to solar construction. By streamline site mapping, TerraSmart can now spend less time in the field assessing a project’s most inaccessible areas. This means work gets done even more quickly and accurately with less risk and lower costs for EPCs and developers. Able to cover 50-80 acres in an hour, HPASM can map, process images, and create a detailed site topography for a 5-megawatt project in only 48 hours. The 3D CAD models generated allow engineers to optimize layout for systems so that projects can generate the most energy possible. HPASM also identifies trouble spots before sites are cleared, to better manage risks and contain costs. Learn more >>

#6 Record Growth Drives Move to New Manufacturing Facility: TerraSmart grew more than 200 percent in the past two years and that growth shows no signs of slowing. To continue to support builds across the nation, TerraSmart moved it’s manufacturing plant into a newly renovated 70,000-square-foot facility located in Columbus, Ohio. Equipped with the latest technology to increase production velocity, this move positioned TerraSmart to accommodate increasing demands for our solar-mounting solutions and gave us room to create the many new products now in development. In October, 2016, TerraSmart also broke ground on a new corporate headquarters, to be located  in Fort Myers, Florida. Learn more >>

#5 First Utility-Scale Solar Plant on U.S. Tribal Lands: In Nevada, TerraSmart completed another U.S. first, a solar mounting project for Moapa Southern Paiute Solar. This project is the first and largest utility-scale solar plant on U.S. tribal lands and a testament to the value of partnerships and overcoming unique project obstacles. The 250 megawatt (AC) project utilized TerraSmart’s surveying, drilling, ground screw and fixed-tilt mounting solutions to support 3,209,091 modules on approximately 2,000 acres on the Moapa River Indian Reservation in Clark County, Nevada. The project will generate enough clean solar energy to serve approximately 100,000 homes per year, displacing approximately 178,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually—the equivalent of taking about 34,000 cars off the road. Learn more >>

Project of the Year Winner: In October, it was announced that TerraSmart’s Moapa Southern Paiute Solar, 353 MW project in Nevada won Solar Builder’s prestigious Project of the Year Award in the ground-mount, utility-scale category. The competition in this category was stiff and we were very proud to have been nominated. When it was announced that the TerraSmart project had won, a staff-wide email was sent out and our entire office erupted in cheers. Having this landmark project for the Moapa Southern Paiute tribe honored was the icing on the cake for a tough project done well by our entire team and in partnership with First Solar and the Moapa tribe. Learn more >>
