TURQUOISE SOLAR PROJECT IS UP FOR SOLAR BUILDER MAG’S UTILITY-SCALE PROJECT OF THE YEAR!

Turquoise will provide clean energy to Apple’s largest Nevada data center campus, located in the Reno Technology Park.

This 61.17 MW project sits on 180 acres of a unique mountainous base in Nevada. The site presented many challenges with its significant typography and slopes ranging from 10% – 30%, on top of the extreme rocky soil conditions. Despite the challenging landscape and COVID-19 pandemic, TerraSmart’s construction team of over 75 was able to achieve original project completion goal by adhering to extended safety protocols, all while overcoming the site’s igneous rock and ledge. TerraSmart’s technology paired with its proprietary ground screw foundation, allowed for a seamless install drilling directly into and below the subsurface. Additionally, TerraSmart’s full turnkey solar installation services of civil construction, surveying, engineering, design, rock drilling, ground screw install, leg assembly and refined racking system – GLIDE, were all utilized from initial to late stage of project completion.  Turquoise Solar project began construction in November of 2019 and created 236 clean energy craft worker construction jobs, of which more than 90% were Nevada residents.
