LEADER IN SOLAR RACKING SYSTEMS USES EFFICIENT GROUND SCREW FOUNDATION IN TOUGH VOLCANIC TERRAIN TO GET 12-MEGAWATT SYSTEM ONLINE FAST

Fort Myers, Florida – June 6, 2017: TerraSmart, a leading innovator in ground mount solutions, recently installed one of the largest solar power plants in the state of Oregon. Located on two 100-acre sites in Prineville, north of Bend, the 12-megawatt Neff Project represents the state’s largest utility-scale solar system, according to the Solar Energy Industry Association.

TerraSmart combined its industry-defining ground screw foundation with its complete turnkey installation to streamline construction on the site’s tough volcanic terrain. The company will feature this and other time-saving technologies at the Solar Power Texas exhibit June 13-14, 2017 in Austin, Texas.

“We are excited about bringing one of Oregon’s larger solar plants on-line,” says TerraSmart CEO Ryan Reid. “This is an important milestone in growing our presence in the Northwest and we look forward to building new partnerships in the region at next week’s Solar Power Texas conference.”

To maximize yield, TerraSmart combined 12,926 of its proprietary ground screws with its single-axis tracker foundation to integrate the tracking technology used in the project. TerraSmart’s experienced team kept costs in check and schedules on track as they surveyed the site, drilled the project and installed torque tubes, vertical posts and ground screws.

The company’s single-axis tracker foundation speeds projects and eliminates change orders and other complications associated with pile refusals. Its interface incorporates advanced installation equipment and unique design features to increase speed on difficult sites.

“Because the area’s rocky soil and hilly terrain add complexity, time and costs to solar construction, our proprietary ground screws offer an efficient alternative to traditional driven piles,” Reid says.

The Neff Project will provide clean solar energy each year for Prineville residents and the tech companies, such as Apple and Facebook, which maintain large server farms in Prineville, North Carolina.  Clean solar energy will take the equivalent of 19,326 metric tons of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, which is comparable to taking 4,000 passenger vehicles off the road annually.
